PASSION

Jordan G. McFaull

Give me the passionate ones;

Those ever watchful hawks of change, who burn

with the incandescent brilliance of innovation,

exploration, and motive.

Give me he, who lives a million years in the

blink of an eye…

who fights,

who dies,

and who cares,

Give me the one that never ceases to be ready -

for the new day ahead, and for the better horizon

of tomorrow.

Those who yearn for revolution, speak for

themselves, and instill the ever omnipotent

sense of victory within the diffident flock of

complacence and apathy

Give me he, who judges his step by the feel of

the wind, the warmth of the sun, and the

interminable voice which says,

“press on, press on, and don’t stop.”

A LOTTERY

Jordan McFaull

who would think?

small

inconspicuous

many times, even deceiving

the same stuff that prepares men for death

the same stuff that alters the course of nations

who would think?

compelling

enticing

sometimes too simple to accept

the same stuff that causes a child to believe in the unbelievable

the same stuff which gives incentive to persevere

we must come to grips with this powerful force of faith

for it is both great and trivial…

AS I LOOKED

JORDAN G. MCFAULL

As I looked down the old road, I thought to myself

what it was like when it was first built:

people and cars using it for transportation;

and I thought to myself what it was like now:

old, deserted and still

As I looked at the old building standing by itself,

I thought to myself what it was like when it was first built:

clean, new and being used;

and I thought to myself what it was like now:

dirty, crumbling and abandoned.

As I looked in the mirror I thought to myself,

what I was like when I was first born:

Scared, hungry and confused;

and I thought to myself what I was like now:

clean, calm and loved.
